❓ Frequently asked questions
The Steel Water marketplace is a platform where sellers and buyers of the maritime industry meet directly. Listings are published here by shipowners, shipyards, service companies, suppliers of ship equipment, spare parts and consumables, as well as individuals: captains, engineers, yachtsmen, small workshops. Listings are divided into two branches — goods and services — with a detailed category tree.
No. Steel Water is an information platform. We are not a party to the transaction, we do not provide delivery, we do not act as an intermediary for payment and we are not responsible for the quality of goods and services. All terms, payment, delivery and acceptance are agreed directly between the buyer and the seller. The contract is concluded directly between the seller and the buyer.
Listings can be published by both companies and individuals. This is a deliberate decision: the maritime market has many small workshops, captains, engineers and yachtsmen who have something to offer — from a single spare part to consulting on a specific project. Companies publish systematically, individuals — point-by-point. Separate tariffs with a large volume of items are provided for large suppliers.
The marketplace covers everything the maritime industry needs. Goods: ships of various types (tankers, bulkers, container ships, passenger ships, yachts and boats, fishing, technical and river fleet), engines (main, auxiliary, for small craft), spare parts (engine parts, consumables, electrical equipment, bearings), ship equipment (navigation, deck, life-saving, environmental). Services: repair, consulting, service maintenance, HR services.
Basic listings are published free of charge. Separate tariffs are provided for large suppliers: they allow publishing thousands of items, maintaining price lists, managing the catalogue systematically and receiving extended analytics on demand. We do not take a commission from the deal — because we are not a party to the deal: money in the chain stays only between the seller and the buyer.
After publication, the listing passes moderation. We check that it relates to the maritime industry, complies with the platform rules and does not contain incorrect wording, misleading characteristics or prohibited categories. Moderation usually takes less than 24 hours. If a listing is rejected, you receive a comment and can fix it and resubmit. We moderate listings, but we do not check every transaction — that is the responsibility of the seller and the buyer.
Through the built-in marketplace chat. Found a suitable listing — write to the seller, clarify characteristics, condition, package contents, price and terms. If you are a seller — buyers write to you directly. All correspondence is stored in the system: you can return to the dialogue at any time, nothing is lost in email or third-party messengers. Then you agree on terms directly — the way it is convenient for both parties.
The seller and the buyer. Steel Water is an information platform and is not a party to the transaction. We do not provide delivery and are not responsible for logistics, timing and safety of the cargo. We do not act as an intermediary for payment: all settlements are made directly between the seller and the buyer. We are not responsible for the quality of goods and services, for the accuracy of characteristics and for the performance of agreements by the parties. All these issues are resolved between the parties — including via the platform chat, where the correspondence history is preserved.
First, contact the seller via the platform chat and describe the discrepancy: attach photos, indicate what exactly does not match the description. In most cases the issue is resolved directly — the parties agree on a return, replacement or adjustment of terms. Since Steel Water is not a party to the transaction, we cannot oblige the seller to a refund or compensation, but we can record the correspondence in the system, process a complaint and, in case of confirmed violations, restrict the seller's access to the platform. Additionally, a review system works that helps other buyers.
Yes. Separate tariffs are provided for large suppliers. They are designed for companies that publish thousands of items, maintain price lists, regularly update the catalogue and want to work with the maritime market systematically. Such tariffs provide an extended listing limit, priority placement, bulk upload tools, analytics on demand and views, as well as support for integration with the supplier's accounting systems. If you supply equipment, spare parts, consumables or services in volume — write to us, and we will select terms for your profile.
Yes, and this is one of the key features of the marketplace. Each category has its own set of attributes, because "tanker" and "injector" are filtered by different parameters. For ships — type, power, deadweight, year of construction, class, region; for engines — power, manufacturer, type; for spare parts — compatibility, condition, manufacturer. Filters help you avoid scrolling through the unnecessary: you immediately see what fits your tasks. Attributes are filled in by sellers — the forms are made for the real parameters of the maritime industry.
The interface and SEO pages of the marketplace are available in Russian, English, Turkish, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic. Category names, attributes and key listing fields are filled in all six languages, so search and filters work correctly regardless of the chosen locale. This is especially convenient when the seller and the buyer are in different countries: each sees the interface in their own language, and the product card remains clear and complete.

All terms, payment, delivery and acceptance are agreed directly between the buyer and the seller.
What you can find on the marketplace
Listings are divided into two large branches — goods and services. Inside each there is a detailed category tree, because the maritime industry does not like generalisations: an engineer looking for a main engine injector should not scroll through listings of yacht accessories.
Goods
- Ships. Tankers (VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax, Panamax, MR, Chemical, LNG, Product), bulkers (Capesize, Panamax, Handymax, Handysize), container ships (ULC, New Panamax, Panamax, Feeder), passenger ships (cruise liners, ferries, RO-PAX), yachts and boats (superyachts, motor, sailing, RIB, jet skis), fishing vessels (trawlers, seiners, crabbers, longliners), technical fleet (tugs, barges, dredgers, crane vessels, icebreakers, supply vessels), river vessels (tankers, tugs, passenger, pushers, barges).
- Engines. Main (by power: up to 1000 kW, 1000–5000, 5000–20000, over 20000 kW), auxiliary (diesel generators, shaft generators), engines for small craft (outboard, inboard, electric motors).
- Spare parts. Engine parts (pistons and rings, cylinder liners, cylinder heads, valves and seats, injectors, turbochargers), consumables (oils and lubricants, filters, gaskets and seals), electrical equipment (generators, starters and alternators, batteries), bearings (roller, ball).
- Ship equipment. Navigation (radars, GPS/GLONASS, echo sounders, autopilots), deck (winches, cranes, anchor and mooring equipment), life-saving (rafts, life jackets, lifebuoys, pyrotechnics), environmental (treatment systems, separators, water treatment systems).
Services
- Repair services. Engine repair, hull repair, electrical repair, equipment repair.
- Consulting services. Technical consulting, engineering services, legal services, insurance.
- Service maintenance. Maintenance, scheduled inspections, certification.
- HR services. Crew search, personnel selection, training and certification.
Who can publish listings
Listings can be published by both companies and individuals. This is a deliberate decision: the maritime market has many small workshops, captains, engineers and yachtsmen who have something to offer — from a single spare part to consulting on a specific project. At the same time, separate tariffs are provided for large suppliers: they can publish thousands of items, maintain price lists and manage the catalogue systematically rather than manually.
Which categories already work
The marketplace category tree is built around real industry tasks and continues to develop. The detailed structure of spare parts and consumables is already laid down in the architecture and is being gradually filled. If you have not found the category you need, it will appear: the tree expands together with the requests of sellers and buyers.
How it works
For the seller. Create a listing, choose a category, specify characteristics, price, condition (new or used) and add photos. For services, specify the format: remote, on-site or both. After moderation, the listing appears in the catalogue and becomes searchable.
For the buyer. Search by category, product type, country and city, filter by characteristics. Found something suitable — contact the seller via the built-in chat, clarify the details and agree on the deal directly.
For the large supplier. Separate tariffs allow publishing a large volume of items, keeping price lists up to date and gaining systematic access to demand in the maritime market.
