Marine equipment supply — tasks for suppliers and manufacturers
Marine equipment is everything that ensures operation, safety and comfort on board: from main engines and pumps to navigation, firefighting and life support systems. Proper selection and timely supply of equipment determine repair timelines, operational reliability and vessel compliance with class and IMO requirements. The Steel Water task board publishes tasks for supplying new and used equipment, as well as integrated systems for specific projects.
Tasks are posted by shipowners, shipping companies, technical managers, shipyards, ship repair yards, design offices and system integrators. Contractors are equipment manufacturers, authorised dealers, traders, used equipment suppliers, integrated solution integrators.
Types of equipment on the task board
- Main and auxiliary engines — diesel, gas, two- and four-stroke, diesel generators
- Pumps and cooling systems — centrifugal, gear, screw, fire, ballast, cargo
- Heat exchangers and separators — plate, shell-and-tube, fuel, oil, water
- Steering gear and propulsors — ram, rotary vane, azimuth thrusters, CPP, waterjets, azipods
- Deck equipment — cranes, windlasses, winches, capstans, hatch covers, ladders
- Navigation equipment — radars, echo sounders, AIS, GMDSS, gyrocompasses, autopilots
- Safety systems — firefighting, alarms, emergency lighting, VDR
- Automation systems — controllers, sensors, monitoring systems, shore integration
- Life support systems — air conditioning, ventilation, water treatment, sanitary systems
- Used equipment — reconditioned, from scrapped vessels, in stock or on order
What to specify in an equipment task
- Vessel or object — name, type, IMO, flag, class, location or nearest port
- Name — exact name, type, purpose, application
- Manufacturer and model — preferred manufacturer, model, whether equivalents are allowed
- Technical specifications — power, capacity, pressure, temperature, dimensions
- Scope of supply — what is included (main unit, spares, documentation, software)
- Requirements — certificates (class, IMO, fire), country of origin, warranty
- Documents — specification, technical requirement, drawings, catalogue references, equivalents
- Timeline and logistics — when required, delivery point, terms (air, sea, road), installation need
- Urgency — scheduled or emergency, tied to repair or departure
- Additional — need for installation, commissioning, personnel training, service
What matters for equipment suppliers
Equipment supply is work where reliability, certification and logistics are critical. When responding to a task, specify: availability in stock or lead time on order, ability to offer genuine and equivalent options with prices and specifications, availability of certificates (class, IMO, manufacturer, fire, origin), delivery timeline and route to port, readiness to arrange installation and commissioning, warranty on equipment and service, training of customer personnel. For a comprehensive project — provide a technical proposal describing the solution.
Documents and safety
All supplied equipment is accompanied by a packing list, invoice, certificate of quality and, where required, a certificate of origin, classification society approval, IMO certificate. For critical equipment (engines, steering gear, navigation, safety systems), class approval and flag state compliance confirmation are often required. If you have experience with such supplies — mention it in your response.
Post equipment tasks for free — find a supplier in the required region or for a specific project. Or respond if you have a warehouse, access to manufacturers or a partner network. All active tasks — in the Equipment section.
