Transport of cargo and equipment for the maritime industry — tasks for logistics companies
Transport in the maritime industry is not just moving cargo between ports. It is delivery of marine equipment, spare parts, materials to a vessel or shipyard, relocation of machinery, transport of oversized cargo, dangerous goods and cargo in tank containers. Proper organisation of transport determines repair timelines, project cost and timely departure. The Steel Water task board publishes tasks for all types of transport logistics in the maritime industry — from a single box to a comprehensive project with multiple transport modes.
Tasks are posted by shipowners, shipping companies, technical managers, shipyards, ship repair yards, suppliers and supply companies. Contractors are logistics companies, freight forwarders, carriers, courier services, multimodal operators, port agents.
Types of transport on the task board
- Sea transport — container, bulk, general cargo, supply vessel delivery, delivery to ports and anchorage
- Road delivery — delivery to a vessel at port, from supplier to shipyard, between warehouses
- Air delivery — urgent delivery of spare parts, equipment, documents, critical cargo
- Rail transport — oversized and heavy cargo, containers, equipment
- Multimodal transport — combining sea, road, rail and air in one route with transshipment at ports
- Relocation of vessels and machinery — transport of vessels, floating craft, cranes, machinery on trailers and by water
- Oversized and heavy cargo — engines, propellers, shafts, large equipment, metal structures
- Dangerous goods — fuel, oils, paints, gases, chemicals, IMDG class, compliance with transport requirements
- Cargo in tank containers — transport of liquids, gases, special media in tank containers
What to specify in a transport task
- Cargo — exact name, weight, dimensions, number of pieces, packaging, hazardous properties
- Point of departure — address, country, city, port or terminal, contact person
- Destination — address, country, city, port, shipyard, vessel, anchorage or terminal
- Timeline — when to pick up and deliver, whether there is a hard date
- Mode of transport — sea, road, air, rail, multimodal, customer preferences
- Special conditions — temperature regime, securing, insurance, packaging requirements, dangerous goods (IMDG)
- Documents — invoice, packing list, certificates, specification, safety data sheet (SDS/MSDS)

What matters for logistics companies
Transport is work where timing, cargo safety and logistics transparency are critical. When responding to a task, specify: readiness to perform the route (country, port, mode of transport), delivery timeline and route, availability of own fleet or partner network, experience with similar cargo (oversized, dangerous, tank containers), ability to insure and clear customs, readiness to work with port agents, cost and payment terms, cargo safety guarantee. If the task is urgent — confirm the ability to ship within hours, including air and courier options.
Documents and safety
Transport is accompanied by a full package of documents: invoice, packing list, transport waybill (CMR, Bill of Lading, AWB, rail waybill), certificates of origin, safety data sheet (for dangerous goods), insurance policy. For dangerous goods, compliance with IMDG, ADR (road), IATA DGR (air), special marking and packaging requirements is mandatory. If you have experience with such requirements — mention it in your response.
Post transport tasks for free — find a carrier in the required region or for a specific cargo. Or respond if you have transport, a partner network and experience. All active tasks — in the Transport section.
